In celebrating World Blood Donor Day on 14th June, 2017, The Ecobank Foundation and Ecobank Ghana created awareness on the importance of donating blood on social media.
Julie Essiam, the CEO of Ecobank Foundation and Dan Sackey, the Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, encouraged people on social media to make blood donation a habit to ensure continuous supply of blood to blood banks in Ghana.
Employees of Ecobank Ghana earlier this year, made a donation of over 500 pints of blood to the blood bank through an internal blood donation exercise. Ecobank Ghana Limited has over the years demonstrated through its CSR activities how the private sector can positively support and impact the health and educational sectors in the country.
Ecobank is also promoting financial Inclusion through innovation. As part Ecobank innovation, the bank has among others launched digital banking products such as the Ecobank Mobile App, T-bill4All, the Ecobank Master Pass QR Code and the Ecobank Express Account. Ms. Essiam said, I believe in donating blood to save lives. Your blood donation will make a difference between life and death. Join the queue, save an African life.
Mr. Sackey added that donating blood is important to saving lives. We need to be each other’s keeper. Donate blood to keep someone alive. Donors are treasures. Be a donor and save lives. Morgan Asiedu, Executive Director, Legal & Human Resources, said, I believe in donating blood to save lives. Let us make blood donation a habit to ensure continuous blood supply to our blood banks.
Edward Botchway, Executive Director & Regional Head, Finance, added that he supports blood donation. Not only does it save lives, it has numerous health benefits to the donor. Patricia Sappor, Regional Head of Marketing & Communications, said, she believes in donating blood to save lives. Health emergencies can occur to anyone anywhere. It can be a child, relative, mother, brother or you. Donating Blood will save a life. Blood is life.
Awura Abena Asafo- Boakye, Company Secretary& Head of Legal, said, I believe in donating blood to save lives. No matter your social standing, you can be a donor.
Daphne Oppong, Regional Head, Human Resources, said, I believe in donating blood. It is beneficial to society and also beneficial to the donor. Everybody has blood to offer. Save a life today.
