DHL Commits $570M+ to Expanding Operations in Fast‑Growing Middle East Markets
DHL Group plans to invest over 500 million euros ($571.3 million) in the Middle East, with a strategic focus on the rapidly expanding Gulf markets of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The investment will be made in the years through 2030 and will span all four of the company’s divisions to significantly strengthen logistics infrastructure in the region, it said.
“The Middle East is emerging as a vital trade hub, facilitating commerce between Asia, Europe, and the U.S. while serving as a gateway to Africa,” it said.
The region is witnessing growth not only due to attracting investments from multinationals expanding their operations but also because Gulf- and Middle East-based businesses are growing their exports, it added.
At the company’s DHL Express business, investments will be made in hub and gateway facilities, as well as enhancing aviation capacity to improve service efficiency and delivery speed.
The DHL Global Forwarding business will expand its overall presence in the region, invest in its fleet, and pursue joint venture initiatives to enhance connectivity and logistics capabilities.
The DHL Supply Chain unit will see increased warehousing capacity, equipment upgrades, and integration of new technology, while DHL eCommerce will benefit from the recent acquisition of delivery provider AJEX in Saudi Arabia, it said.
