Ghana Aims for 24-Hour Economy to Boost Agribusiness Growth
Trade and Industry Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has declared Ghana’s 24-hour economy initiative essential for unlocking agribusiness potential and driving sustainable industrial growth.
Addressing the National Agribusiness Dialogue in Accra, Ofosu-Adjare framed the policy as a strategic catalyst for reducing post-harvest losses, boosting processing capacity, and enabling round-the-clock logistics.
“The 24-hour economy supports continuous agro-processing, storage, and market access – it’s transformative beyond extended hours,” the Minister stated.
The dialogue, themed “Resetting Agribusiness for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Growth,” convened agriculture stakeholders to align strategies with President Mahama’s industrial vision. Ofosu-Adjare emphasized the policy’s role in integrating smallholder farmers and SMEs into competitive value chains while creating jobs at scale.
“We’re building a modern, globally competitive agribusiness sector anchored in sustainability,” she affirmed, urging stakeholders to contribute bold solutions.
The talks focused on enhancing export competitiveness and embedding agriculture within Ghana’s broader industrial agenda, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive economic transformation under its 24-hour framework.
