Engineers & Planners Pays $2m Toward Black Stars 2026 World Cup Fundraising Drive
Engineering firm Engineers & Planners has paid $2 million to support Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as part of a broader fundraising effort for the Black Stars.
The payment was officially presented on April 30, 2026, to Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem by a delegation led by the company’s founder Ibrahim Mahama.
This contribution forms part of a previously announced $5 million sponsorship pledge made in March 2026, making Engineers & Planners one of the leading private sector contributors to Ghana’s World Cup preparations.
The fundraising campaign is aimed at raising funds to support the Black Stars’ logistics, training programmes, infrastructure needs, and international preparation ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The draw has increased calls for strong early funding to ensure proper preparation for the tournament.
Officials involved in the campaign say more corporate contributions and partnership announcements are expected in the coming weeks as fundraising efforts continue to grow.
Several organisations and individuals have already made commitments to support the team:
Gold Fields Ghana has pledged $2 million, with an additional $1 million expected next year.
KGL Group has committed GH₵10 million, with GH₵5 million already disbursed.
Christian Salamony Game Technology has pledged $2 million.
Serene Insurance has committed GH₵2 million in cash along with a GH₵20 million insurance package for the team.
Jewel Energy and Icon Energy have each pledged GH₵1 million, with some reports suggesting Jewel Energy’s contribution may be $1 million.
An anonymous donor has also contributed $1 million.
Individual and celebrity support has also been recorded:
Shatta Wale has pledged $100,000 to support fan engagement activities.
Stonebwoy has contributed $81,000 in cash and $20,000 in music production and rights for a campaign song, bringing his total support to $101,000.
Alex Okyere of KAF Company Ltd donated GH₵240,000.
Timeline and Innovation Company, led by Alhaji Musah, has committed $300,000.
The combined pledges reflect growing momentum behind Ghana’s World Cup preparations as both corporate bodies and individuals step forward to support the national team.
